What Is Mac Activation Lock?
Mac Activation Lock is a security feature that ties your Mac to an Apple ID. When activated through Find My, the Mac cannot be set up, reinstalled, or used without the credentials of the linked Apple ID — even after erasing all data.
This lock is particularly common with second-hand Macs where the previous owner forgot to sign out of their Apple ID before selling, or in institutional environments where the enrolling account is no longer accessible.
